We're seeking a PVA & Electrical Engineer to join our team. This role is for a hands-on expert who will drive the development, assembly, and testing of our spacecraft's solar array systems. You will work closely with both the AIT and product development teams.
Starting month: October-November 2025
Working language: English (also the main language of the recruitment process)
Working location: Turin, Italy
Your mission:
- Lead the PVA process development, qualification and execution.
- Design and develop jigs, fixtures, and tools for the precise alignment and integration of photovoltaic cells.
- Conduct a variety of non-destructive and destructive tests to validate the quality of welded and bonded joints.
- Design and analyze the electrical circuits of the solar array, including stringing of cells, diode placement, and harness routing.
- Perform analyses to predict electrical performance under various space conditions (e.g., thermal cycles, radiation exposure).
- Develop and implement test plans for electrical performance, including I-V (current-voltage) curve characterization.
- Build prototypes of solar panel sections for testing.
- Execute environmental tests, such as thermal vacuum (TVAC) testing and vibration testing, to simulate launch and on-orbit conditions.
- Conduct performance testing, including solar simulator testing, to measure power output.
What you bring:
- 3+ years of demonstrated professional experience in PVA (photovoltaic assembly).
- Professional soldering/PV welding and testing experience.
- Strong understanding of the electrical and physical properties of solar cells and solar array materials.
- Good knowledge of physics in the context of space engineering (effects of radiation, vacuum, space particles and thermal stresses on electrical/PV systems).
- Good knowledge of space industry standards related to PVA.
- Proficiency in CAD software for designing solar panel layouts and fixtures.
- Fluent use of English.
- Experience with test equipment, including power supplies, multimeters, and data acquisition systems.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret test data and troubleshoot issues.
